RoboHawks Robotics Team

In third through eighth grade, Heschel's FEIT Electric sponsored Robotics team, the RoboHawks, participate in the VEX IQ Robotics League. This league challenges students to think both critically and creatively, as well as teaches them collaboration, teamwork, and design. The students build, compete, and enjoy the challenge of this after school program which promotes engineering skills as well as mastery. In competition, students test their robot skills, driving skills, and programming skills. The program fosters problem solving and leadership building. All Heschel sixth graders take robotics as part of their curriculum.

Heschel's 2019 Robohawks had the honor of being VEX IQ Squared Away League Champions! The Robohawks won both the Teamwork and Robot Skills Challenge Awards for the season and made it all the way to the California State Tournament! We are thrilled to see your banner hanging in de Toledo Pavilion among other great Heschel teams!

In 2018, a group of 6th graders entered several FIRST LEGO League competitions upon completion of the course and at the Los Angeles FLL Championship tournament, Heschel earned first place for their project presentation of a portable light therapy cap to realign the diurnal cycle for people who have alternative work shifts. Their exceptional achievements lead to participation in competitions in Uruguay, San Jose, and the project attained a patent pending status as a result of the team’s exceptional achievements.
