How to Apply for Financial Assistance
STEP 1: COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE ONLINE PARENT'S FINANCIAL STATEMENT (PFS)
Heschel uses School and Student Services (SSS) to handle a major portion of the computation in our financial assistance process. SSS is a service of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Based on the information you provide, SSS calculates an estimated amount that your family can contribute to educational expenses.
Starting on October 22, 2018, go to sss.nais.org and click on the prompt to begin your Parent's Financial Statement (PFS). You will create a user name and password which will allow you to complete the PFS over more than one session. Heschel's SSS code is 1157.
New student PFS applications must be submitted no later than January 22, 2019. Current student PFS applications must be submitted no later than January 18, 2019. There is a nonrefundable application fee of $51. Once your PFS is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn from the SSS system.
STEP 2: COMPLETE HESCHEL'S SUPPLEMENTAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FORM AND IRS FORM 4506-T

STEP 3: SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS TO SSS
Once you submit the PFS, and your payment of $51, documents can be uploaded directly to SSS through the "My Documents" tab. Please remove any security or password protection from your PDFs and black out any social security numbers. Note, it is the family's responsibility to make sure that the file is complete. You may verify this by going to the family portal at sss.nais.org.
Returning Families: If you applied for financial assistance for the 2018-2019 school year, you must submit your 2017 Federal Tax Returns with all attached schedules, including W2s, 1099s, etc. -- plus, your last two paystubs from 2018 by January 11, 2019 for consideration for next year.
