Our Wellness Community
We believe middle school should be a time when students feel supported, connected, and valued as they navigate the challenges of adolescence. That's why we've created a wellness approach that puts relationships at the center.
Advisory groups form the heart of our community. Here, students from different grades come together with a dedicated faculty advisor who serves as their guide and advocate throughout their middle school journey. These small groups become like family, creating spaces where students can be themselves, build connections across grade levels, and practice important social skills in a supportive environment.
Our school nurse is available every day to help with everything from minor scrapes to managing medications or just providing a quiet moment when students aren't feeling their best.
Our counseling department provides personalized support beyond the classroom. Counselors work alongside students individually, getting to know their unique strengths and areas for growth. Together, they develop strategies that support both academic success and emotional wellbeing, creating a safety net for students as they navigate the ups and downs of adolescence.
Academic Balance and Support
We equip students with practical tools to manage their academic responsibilities effectively. Our structured study halls provide dedicated time during the school day to complete homework and develop crucial executive functioning skills. Students learn to prioritize assignments, balance schoolwork with extracurricular activities, and honor social commitments—skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
For additional support, our after-school homework lab offers a quiet, supervised space where students can complete assignments before heading home. This option helps many families maintain a healthier home-school balance while ensuring academic success.
Our PE department extends beyond traditional sports to focus on lifelong wellness practices. While athletic teams build important teamwork skills, our program also introduces students to activities and habits they can carry into adulthood for sustainable physical and mental wellbeing.
Finding Balance with Technology
We recognize the role technology plays in our students' lives, which is why we've created thoughtful boundaries. Each morning, students check in with their advisors and hand over their phones—a small ritual that helps them start the day present and connected to those around them.
While every student has access to a school Chromebook, we're mindful about when and how technology supports learning. Sometimes a collaborative Google Doc is the perfect tool; other times, a lively discussion or hands-on project better serves our goals. By thoughtfully choosing when to use digital tools, we help students develop healthy relationships with technology that will serve them well beyond our campus.
Our approach isn't about having all the answers—it's about creating a community where we support each other, learn together, and help every student discover their own path to wellness.
