Student Leadership

Student council, various student committees and in-class opportunities are presented to provide our students with a variety of ways to hone their leadership and communication skills.

In addition, at Heschel, we recognize student achievement in all aspects of personal and academic development. The following awards are given at the close of the second semester for all 8th grade students:

The Presidential Gold Seal is awarded to students who maintain an academic grade point average of 3.5 each semester and have scored 90% or above in any category of a nationally-normed standardized test during their middle school years.

The Presidential Silver Seal is awarded to students who maintain an academic grade point average of 3.0 to 3.49 each semester and have scored 85% or above in any category of a nationally-normed standardized test during their middle school years.

The following awards are presented to graduating 8th grade students at an Awards Assembly prior to the close of school. Students vote for candidates in these categories and faculty make the final selections. Personal integrity is a consideration in all award selections.
