Community Service > Chavurot
Chavurot (families) foster meaningful relationships among students of differing grade levels. Like real families, chavurot participate in traditional activities such as filling Thanksgiving Baskets, celebrating Shabbat, planning for Earth Day, and other events where cross-grade level activities enhance learning, school spirit, and relationships. To the delight of their young friends, eighth grade students act as “leaders” in planning and conducting activities. This not only brings out the best in the 8th grades, but also establishes a tradition and honor to which younger students can aspire. In addition to all 1st – 8th grade students, all staff members are assigned to specific families as mentors and advisors. Beyond sharing learning experiences, students develop school-wide responsibility and connectedness.
