We provide a rich and comprehensive experiential program where the student is an active and engaged participant in the education process: AJHDS students learn how to learn.   Within a climate of kavod (embedded mutual respect), students develop academic and non-academic competencies to participate effectively in a democratic society and in the Jewish community. Our experiential, child-centered program, implemented in small and large group instruction, promotes student decision-making skills, responsibility, and accountability for learning.

 

Exploration, inquiry, problem solving, and positive peer interaction are generated by a knowledgeable, talented, and caring staff.

 

AJHDS offers two technology centers, fully equipped science labs, an art studio, and an interscholastic sports program. Outdoor education and community service are important components of the educational experience.
